Sectors

Automotive - Transportation

EURO/CFD is close to the automotive cluster in the region Alsace Franche-Comté where is located the most important industrial center of PSA Peugeot Citroën.

Fluid mechanics is widely used in automotive and transportation sectors: from the design of fuel injectors inside motors to the optimization of trains aerodynamical lines. It helps to increase technical performances of vehicles while improving thermic and acoustic comfort of drivers and safety of people waiting on the trainstation platform (reduction of the blowing effect of trains quickly passing by).

Our CFD potential for automotive and railway transportation is wide:

  • Studies on combustion within Diesel or petrol engines
  • Analysis on aeroacoustic sources
  • Modelling of external aerodynamics
  • Increase technical performances of elements
  • Reduce energetic consumption

CFD applications

Study on vehicule exhaust containing a catalyst and particulates filter

Modeling exhausts allows head loss and speed repartiton through the catalyst input calculations. Defining wall temperature will allow to prevent failure risks, thanks to thermomechanic calculations

Validation of the conception of an air cooling system

The study is asked to validate the design basis of a distributor within an air-cooling system. Repartition and direction of flows have been studied with various parameters of ventilation openings. This verification happened during the conception phase, to validate the required specifications.
