Sectors

Aeronautics - Shipbuilding

Aeronautics represents an important industrial strength in France: largest corporations of the field are located in our country.

These companies devote 16% of their income to R&D with leading researches on combustion, propulsion, aerodynamics, acoustics.

EURO/CFD carries out analyses on:

  • External and internal aerodynamics
  • Heat transfer
  • Air intake and exhaust
  • Engines flows
  • Turbulence
  • Combustion models

CFD is also used in shipbuilding on massive projects, from cruise boats to race sailing ships.

CFD applications

Analysis and modeling of flows

Exhaust flows underwater have to be optimum. Two-phase flow of the exhaust is studied. Results show that the exhaust is subjected to the pressure of seawater: reducing this pressure would improve the performances. A new design will allow an optimization and a drop in gas consumption of the boat.

Precise hydrodynamics for a boat engine

Internal and external flows are studied through CFD. The aim of the study is to allow a thin film of seawater to lubrificate the element of the engine. Studying the behaviour of fluids for various parameters gave solutions for an optimization.
